Nests, Nooks & Storybooks
Every Tuesday from 3:45pm – 4:15pm
Free for members and free with regular daily admission rates of $5 adults, $4 seniors, $3 kids (2-11)

Grab a blanket and join us out in the field, along a pond, or under the trees for story time at the Ogden Nature Center! Every Tuesday afternoon, come read a book with us outside. We’ll dive deeper into the themes of the story by exploring the Ogden Nature Center. Please check in at the Visitor Center. No reservations needed, just drop in.

Check out songbird social media as you learn how birds communicate. Listen to a songbird symphony along the trails as you learn to bird by ear. Please meet in the Visitor Center.

Early Morning Mist Netting
Saturday, May 5th from 6:30am – 9:00am
$8 for members / $10 for non-members
Ages: 10 years and older (16 and under must have attending adult)
Whether you’re an expert birder or new to the world of our flying friends, join us at the Ogden Nature Center for a morning of songbird mist netting. What is mist netting? It is a capture technique used by scientists to study birds and bats. See how the researchers do it, and then get an up close and personal look at our avian counterparts. Bring your binoculars and field guides, if you have them, and dress for the weather! We’ll have the coffee ready. Please register by 5pm Thursday, May 3rd by calling (801) 621-7595.

Nature Journaling
Saturday, May 5th from 10:00am – 12noon
$15 members / $18 nonmembers
Ages 8 and up; children younger than 14 must be accompanied by a participating adult.
Learn about drawing bugs, buds, and other natural wonders. You’ll discover ways to make artful and thoughtful nature journal pages. Ogden artist and naturalist Susan Snyder teaches this two-hour workshop. Participants will learn about journaling methods, and then hit the trails to create some fun pages. All materials provided, but feel free to bring your own if you prefer. Pre-registration required by 5pm Thursday, May 3rd.

Help us celebrate Mother’s Day by taking a close look at outstanding moms in nature. From the elephant who endures 22 months of pregnancy and gives birth to a 200 lb. baby to the mommy orangutan who nurses her baby for 7 years! Bring your mother as we explore the wonders of Mother Nature. Please meet in the Visitor Center.

Scout Saturday: Boy Scouts Reptiles Badge
Saturday, May 12th from 9:00am – 12noon
$25 per scout, accompanying adult free. General admission rates apply to all other attending family members.

What better place to work on a merit badge than the Ogden Nature Center? In this 3-hour workshop, our teacher/naturalists will lead scouts through the majority of the requirements for the Reptiles Badge. Pre-registration is required. Scout Saturday: – Girl Scouts Junior Gardener Badge

Calling all Junior Girl Scouts! The Ogden Nature Center is offering you the chance to get your Gardener Badge in May. You’ll complete all five steps to earn your Gardener Badge with us – including visiting a garden, creating your own mini zen garden, understanding growing zones, experimenting with seeds, and helping the Ogden Nature Center grow a garden. Come learn all about different bugs and insects, listen to stories and complete a bug craft in this hands-on, sensory friendly, nature discovery program specially designed for young children with special needs and their families. Pre-registration is required. Families are invited to complete a short questionnaire to share your child’s learning styles & needs. Join us for a special Memorial Day program with the Ogden Nature Center’s own Bald Eagle, Des Ta Te. Come learn about these special birds and hear how they finally became our national symbol.
