Colorado Bear Creek Water and Sanitation District’s Customers Can Now Make Secure, Online Payments
October 26, 2018
DENVER–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Bear Creek Water and Sanitation District’s (BCWSD) customers now have
the convenience of paying their water and sewer bills online. BCWSD’s
new website, https://www.colorado.gov/bearcreekwater,
features PayPort—the secure online payment processing system that allows
governments to accept credit cards and eChecks from their constituents.
BCWSD is responsible for bringing public water and sanitary sewer
service to the Bear Creek Valley, an area with a population of
approximately 32,000 residents. Therefore, another goal for the new
website was to save customers time by making it easier for them to find
what they need online. Typical searches regarding fees, rules and
regulations, Water Quality Reports, financial transparency, the Board of
Directors meeting schedule as well as license applications for
contractors were reorganized for faster access.
“Previously, Bear Creek Water and Sanitation District’s information was
on an archaic web platform that limited how we could present content to
our customers,” said Systems Administrator, Chad Weaver. “We turned our
website into a very sleek and professional-looking one that provides
user-friendly content. Customers are now able to easily navigate the
site to pay their bills and find information.”
“Bear Creek Water and Sanitation District joins the growing number of
special districts answering citizens’ needs for more online services
that they can do at their convenience and on a secure platform,” said
Colorado Interactive’s President and General Manager, Mike Ansley. “The
ability to access more information and perform more transactions online
means expanding districts can efficiently serve customers. It’s a win
for everyone.”
BCWSD utilized Colorado Interactive (CI) and the Statewide Internet
Portal Authority’s (SIPA) proprietary platform to rapidly develop its
new website. CI provides digital government services to state agencies,
local governments and educational entities through a contract with SIPA
— the official internet portal connecting the public with Colorado
government. The partnership’s mission allows government leaders to focus
on delivering on-demand, digital government solutions without requests
for proposals or the use of tax appropriations.
“Bear Creek Water and Sanitation District has taken advantage of two
robust services on Colorado.gov; services which assist the district in
providing secure and efficient online operations for their residents,”
said SIPA’s Executive Director Jack Arrowsmith. “The SIPA/CI partnership
delivers customizable payment processing and websites, at no cost to our
government partners, that are easy to edit and manage by the district
and intuitive to use for visitors.”
The SIPA/CI partnership has benefited more than 60 special districts and
educational organizations in Colorado. Eligible government entities in
need of free website development and hosting as well as payment
processing through the Colorado.gov Web portal should contact SIPA.
