Navigant Research Report Shows Global Annual Spending on DER Self-Consumption Enabling Technologies is Expected to Exceed $192 Billion in 2027

Asia Pacific, North America, and Europe are expected to hold
leading market shares during the next decade

BOULDER, Colo.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#DER–A new report from Navigant

(DER) self-consumption enabling technologies, providing forecasts for

: According to a new report from @NavigantRSRCH,
global annual spending on DER self-consumption enabling technologies is
expected to grow from $70.8 billion in 2018 to more than $192 billion in
2027.

“The technologies needed to increase self-consumption are available
today, but they have been developed in their own silos, which is why few
integrated solutions exist in the market,” says Roberto Rodriguez
Labastida, senior research analyst at Navigant Research. “Instead, the
focus is on technologies that enable the deployment of
self-consumption-focused installations but are not necessarily deployed
as an integrated system, including energy-focused technologies as well
as some that are part of the wider smart home or Industrial Internet of
Things ecosystems.”

During the next decade, spending on these technologies is expected to be
distributed almost evenly between Asia Pacific, North America, and
Europe, with projected market shares of 38%, 32%, and 26%, respectively.
According to the report, Latin America and the Middle East & Africa are
expected to have market shares of just 3% and 1%.

The report, DER
Self-Consumption Enabling Technologies
, examines the global
market for DER self-consumption enabling technologies, including
communications, monitoring, forecasting, smart devices, electric vehicle
chargers, solar photovoltaics, and energy storage. The study analyzes
the market issues, such as drivers, barriers, and case studies,
associated with the DER self-consumption business model. Global market
forecasts for spending, segmented by component and region, extend
through 2027. The report also examines the key DER self-consumption
enabling technologies, as well as the major global trends related to the
self-consumption model. An Executive Summary of the report is available
