Onica Redefines the IoT Journey with the Launch of IoTanium

New solution powered by AWS facilitates rapid prototyping and
deployment of IoT solutions

LAS VEGAS–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#AWSOnica
today announced the launch of IoTanium,
an Internet of Things (IoT) solution that is powered by Amazon Web
Services, Inc. (AWS) and is designed to facilitate the rapid development
and deployment of IoT applications. As a pre-integrated solution,
IoTanium brings together a reference hardware platform, cohesive
software package for building IoT applications and analytics, and
industry-leading professional services from Onica. Applications built on
IoTanium can quickly and easily advance from proof of concept to
customized, production-ready solutions in a fraction of the time.

According
to Gartner
, there were more than 8.4 billion connected devices in
use in 2017 and there will be an estimated 20.4 billion connected
devices by 2020. IoTanium
provides a platform that integrates all of the essential components for
the development and deployment of custom IoT solutions, supporting
end-to-end data flow and lifecycle management, mobile and web
application APIs, device management, and in-depth analytics. IoTanium
enables Onica to provide its customers with world-class IoT solutions
and connected products across several industries, including medical
devices, media and entertainment, oil and gas, logistics, and connected
homes, offices, and cities.

“With the accelerated pace of IoT adoption globally, businesses need
solutions for rapidly building new applications that leverage connected
devices to enable new revenue streams, drive efficiencies, and lower
costs,” said Tolga Tarhan, CTO at Onica. “IoTanium is an end-to-end
solution that gives businesses everything they need to develop and
deploy IoT applications across a wide variety of use cases. This
includes creating IoT solutions to command and control devices or
collect data remotely; designing systems for performance monitoring and
failure management; or using IoT data to improve the efficiency and
reliability of engineering and manufacturing processes. With IoTanium,
the opportunities are virtually endless.”

IoTanium Reference Hardware: IoTanium includes pre-integrated
power and battery management, bootstrapping, provisioning, firmware
updates, and connectivity via LTE, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth to eliminate the
undifferentiated heavy lifting of designing and building IoT hardware.
The board is designed to enable the rapid creation of pilot applications
that can start consuming data on Day 1, while providing a pathway for
the creation of a custom, production-ready, device based on the same
electronics design and firmware as the pilot.

IoTanium Platform: The IoTanium Platform is built entirely on AWS
and pulls together 11 different AWS services including AWS IoT Core, AWS
Greengrass, Amazon DynamoDB, AWS Lambda, and Amazon Kinesis. The
platform was built to manage data ingestion, storage and analytics, and
uses entirely serverless offerings from AWS. IoTanium uses native AWS
services and as a result, benefits from the breadth, scale, and
reliability of AWS to deliver an advanced IoT platform.

“The most exciting thing was being able to leverage Onica’s expertise in
AWS to build a product that works and is operating farms the way we need
it to,” said Matt Vail, co-founder and COO, Local Roots Farms, an Onica
customer.

IoTanium Analytics: IoTanium Analytics leverages AWS IoT
Analytics, Amazon Elastic MapReduce (Amazon EMR), Amazon SageMaker, and
Onica’s Data Science Workbench to bring analytics and machine learning
to IoT data. It enables the design and implementation of data pipelines,
data lakes, and Machine Learning (ML) models by bringing together
market-leading technologies that facilitate rapid data engineering and
data science workflows for IoT applications.

“IoTanium is redefining the IoT journey by accelerating the development
and deployment of cloud-based IoT applications and projects using a
trusted and proven architecture,” said Mark Dodds, director for IoT and
Edge Computing, Amazon Web Services, Inc.
