Eagle County Students Head to the 2018 Xfinity Birds of Prey World Cup Thanks to TIAA Bank & EVERFI
JACKSONVILLE, Fla.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–TIAA Bank, The Vail Valley Foundation’s YouthPower365 and EVERFI teamed
up again to challenge local Eagle County students on their financial
literacy skills for a chance to win a trip to the 2018 Xfinity Birds of
Prey World Cup in Beaver Creek, Colorado.
Applying the learning from EVERFI, FutureSmart and Venture modules,
local Eagle County elementary and middle school students submitted a
digital video highlighting the skills they learned in the courses and
addressing the question, “If you were to win $1,000, how would you apply
the lessons learned with EVERFI to better your community?”
TIAA Bank and YouthPower365 are committed to investing in education by
providing the right financial tools to achieve success. The challenge
provided a fun and engaging way for students to learn these important
life skills that last beyond the classroom.
The fifth grade classes at June Creek Elementary and Red Sandstone
Elementary and the sixth grade class at Homestake Peak School were
selected based on their submissions and won a trip to see the best
skiers in the world at the 2018 Xfinity Birds of Prey World Cup on Nov
30, 2018. They also each received $1,000 to invest in community programs
and school improvements important to the students.
“Investing in education makes a meaningful impact in students’ lives and
the lives of our communities,” said Blake Wilson, chairman and CEO of
TIAA Bank. “TIAA Bank is proud to empower the next generation through
the Financial Literacy Challenge and we’re excited to celebrate these
difference makers at the 2018 Xfinity Birds of Prey World Cup.”
“We are thrilled to be a part of the financial literacy efforts being
presented by EVERFI and TIAA Bank,” said Mike Imhof, president of the
Vail Valley Foundation, which organizes the Xfinity Birds of Prey event.
“We applaud TIAA Bank for helping our young people improve their
financial literacy skills. We also welcome the opportunity to have these
deserving young people come out and take part in the ski racing heritage
that is integral to our community.”
