recognition system, a futuristic underwater drone, a smart digital shelf
display, and a portable sterilizer device that turns water into
disinfectant – are breakthroughs soon to be unveiled in the backdrop of
a host of innovations launched in Taiwan this year.

Taiwan, a country known for its key role in the global supply chain of
the information and communication industry, welcomed the launch of
Amazon’s latest innovation center in August, and pulsates with an
invigorating atmosphere for product designers and manufacturers.
Taiwan’s many cutting-edge AIoT innovations, exemplified by four
presenting companies – also winners of the prestigious Taiwan Excellence
award – will be unveiled at “The Future is Smart: Taiwan Innovations for
2019 & Beyond” CES press conference:

  1. CyberLink – FaceMe
With years of research in the fields of
artificial intelligence and facial recognition, CyberLink’s FaceMe® is
one of the world’s most highly precise facial recognition systems.
Powered by deep learning and a neural network algorithm, its high
precision yields up to a 98.41% true acceptance rate (TAR), with a
false acceptance rate (FAR) of less than 10-6 (0.000001).
With such high precision, FaceMe is perfect for security and
surveillance solutions and multiple applications such as smart homes,
smart offices, smart retailers, and smart cities. Its AI facial
recognition engine runs smoothly on systems with less memory or with
lower CPU/GPU computing power, allowing deployments into a
    price-sensitive mass market.

    CyberLink, in addition to its
expertise in AI and facial recognition, has shipped several hundred
million copies of its multimedia software and apps, including the
award-winning PowerDirector, PhotoDirector, and PowerDVD. Over the
years CyberLink has forged close long-term partnerships with the
world’s leading personal computer and peripheral device manufacturers.
Through hardware preloading, CyberLink provides PC brands with
versatile application software that helps them fulfill the needs of
    end customers.

  2. ELECLEAN – Disinfectant Sprayer
    ELECLEAN’s Disinfectant
Sprayer is the first ever portable sterilizing device that transforms
water into disinfectant, eliminating bacteria and viruses. After
storing water in the container, simply press the switch to produce ROS
(Reactive Oxygen Species) and create a spray that can reduce common
germs in daily life. It is certified effective in destroying 99.99% of
contagions like E. coli, H1N1, and enterovirus. It does not
contain chemical add-ons and is light enough to be carried around. It
serves as the perfect tool in cleaning the environment and
    disinfecting the human body.
  3. Innolux – Electronic Shelf Labels
    Redefining the future of
retail, Innolux’s new digital shelf label displays allow you to ensure
product information is kept current by letting content be updated
easily and efficiently. The new 23.1” and 29” bar type TFT electronic
shelf label displays feature an extra-wide screen and are ideal for
applications such as electronic shelf labels used to display product
details, pricing, and any special offers. With a digital shelf label
display, you can ensure product information is kept current by
ensuring content can be updated easily and efficiently.

    Innolux
is one of the world’s key manufacturers of flat panel displays, which
they supply to some of the world’s well-known TV brands. Its
all-inclusive product lines span the full range of TFT LCD panel
modules and touch panels, including TV panels, PID, desktop monitors,
notebook computer panels, small and medium-sized panels, and medical
    and automotive panels.

  4. ThunderTiger – Seadragon
    An autonomous water robot,
Seadragon at its core is a remote-controlled submarine for
surveillance, rescue, and marine research. The nifty device is highly
maneuverable thanks to its vectored thrust configuration and possesses
additional stabilizing capacity optimized for inspection and
research-class missions. Its cross-platform interface is user friendly
and intuitive to use. The Seadragon can explore to depths of 200
meters (218 yards) and has quick-swappable batteries for long
missions. It is also equipped with a maneuverable hand and a
flashlight. Seadragon is among the leaders of the emerging underwater
    drone market.
