USU Brigham City Celebrates 150th Transcontinental Railroad Anniversary
Utah State University Brigham City is offering a five-part lecture series about the Transcontinental Railroad, coinciding with Spike 150, a celebration of the railroad’s completion 150 years ago on May 10, 1869 in Utah.
“The Transcontinental Railroad completion reflects Utah’s legacy to make great achievements through unity and hard work,” said Dan Black, USU Brigham City associate vice president. “This lecture series will give our students and the community an opportunity to come together, learn important details of Utah’s role in this monumental historical event, and reflect on their own impact on Utah’s current and future development.”
The Golden Spike ceremony, organized by Spike 150, will take place on May 10. Leading up to this special occasion, USU Brigham City will host five different presenters to discuss the significance of this historical event. Originating from the Brigham City campus auditorium all lectures will start at 7:00 pm, with each lecture being streamed live on AggieCast at aggiecast.usu.edu and broadcasted to several USU locations.

The lecture series are free and open to the public. The USU Brigham City campus is located at 989 South Main Street, Brigham City.
