Proposed Dog Friendly Parks Public Input Meeting

The Logan Parks and Recreation Department would like to invite the community to a public input meeting on Tuesday, January 22 at 5:30 pm.

This citizen involvement meeting will be held in the City Hall Council Chambers, 290 North 100 West, and is designed to gather public input regarding a potential one-year pilot program to allow dogs in parks.

Option #1 Designate 7-8 "Dog Friendly" parks across the city (either the total area of a smaller neighborhood park, or a certain area in a larger park) to allow dogs (either leashed or off-leash) at any time.

Option #2 Allow off-leash dogs during certain posted hours (both a morning and evening time) in selected areas of designated parks (no fencing; areas marked with signs).

Both Options would include:
· signage and educational campaign to encourage compliance
· dog waste bags
· would require Council approval
· would be reviewed after one year to evaluate success/problems/continuation

If you cannot attend the meeting please email your written comments by Monday, January 28 to Mayor Holly Daines (holly.daines) or Russ Akina, Director of Parks and Recreation (russ.akina).
