BOULDER, Colo.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–lt;a href=”https://twitter.com/hashtag/AMI?src=hash” target=”_blank”gt;#AMIlt;/agt;–A new report from Navigant
Research offers an analysis of global utility smart meter projects,
providing data related to global customer endpoints, meter
manufacturers, advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) communications
vendors, systems integrators, and meter data management system (MDMS)
vendors, through 3Q 2018.
The smart electric meter market remains strong as developed markets
continue to mature through a mix of new deployments and
second-generation upgrades. Meanwhile, developing markets are finally
advancing beyond the nascent stage, with an uptick in notable project
announcements across areas of Asia Pacific, Latin America, and the
Middle East. Click

29 new projects have been announced globally since the last iteration of
Navigant Research’s Global AMI Tracker.
“Since the release of Navigant Research’s previous Global AMI Tracker in
2Q 2018, the North American market has seen several new project
announcements from larger utilities (e.g., Dominion Virginia, Duke
Energy Florida, and Tampa Electric) and smaller public utilities,” says
Michael Kelly, research analyst with Navigant Research. “In Europe, a
flurry of smart meter activity continues, with several ongoing and
planned deployments, and the Asia Pacific market remains fragmented,
with some countries engaging in large-scale projects while many others
show limited to no activity.”
Latin America has traditionally been an underdeveloped market, but
countries like Argentina, Colombia, Costa Rica, and Peru are pursuing
AMI. In the Middle East & Africa, which has also been slow to adopt AMI,
a few countries such as Kuwait, Iran, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, and the
United Arab Emirates have announced large-scale projects. Africa is
still significantly inhibited by financial constraints, though small- to
mid-scale projects continue to propagate across the continent.
The report, Global
AMI Tracker 4Q18, provides an analysis of global utility smart
meter projects. It tracks data related to global customer endpoints,
meter manufacturers, AMI communications vendors, systems integrators,
and meter data management system (MDMS) vendors. The Tracker also
includes an examination of the technologies, timeframes, and vendor
selections for AMI deployments around the world, as well as vendor
selection share analysis for North America. An Executive Summary of the
report is available for free download on the Navigant
Research website.
