The Tanner Talk Series: Breaking Barriers with Sylvia Mendez (lecture)

The Tanner Talk Series is proud to present “Breaking Barriers” with Sylvia Mendez. When she was 8 years old, Sylvia Mendez and her family played a pivotal role in the landmark desegregation case of 1946 that prompted California to be the first state to integrate schools. She received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor.
In addition to Sylvia’s lecture, there will also be the Mendez vs. Westminster Exhibit Opening in the Anthropology Museum in Old Main 252 on Thursday, September 19 from 9:00 – 10:15 AM.
