Aggies Celebrate National First-Generation Student Day

Utah State University Aggies prepare to celebrate all first-generation students during its national First-Generation Student Day kick-off Thursday, Nov. 7, at 7 p.m. on the Logan campus. First-generation students and faculty will gather to celebrate their journeys to completing a four-year degree.
This kick-off is part of the Aggie First Scholars Program (AFS). The program continues to be successful in creating opportunities for first-generation students to mentor one another, network with faculty and staff, access resources on campus and build strong foundations that will help them thrive at USU.
The event is open to any first-generation student, faculty and staff. This is the first time USU is hosting this event. It will also kick-off its first round of AFS scholarship awards to students who are current mentors within the program.
On November 8, national First-Generation Student Day will follow the kick-off. USU Aggie First Scholars will join first-generation students across the nation in honoring one another’s journey. As part of the celebration, USU first-generation students will take a pledge to finish their four-year degree and celebrate their diversity as Aggies.
