For 40 years, Utah politics have pitted the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints republicans against “non-Mormon� democrats – and the republicans have won. Utah is among the most republican states in the United States, but it wasn’t always so. From statehood to the mid-1970s, Utah followed the political mainstream, voting with American majorities and enjoying strong, two-party competition.
Retired journalist and published author Rod Decker will speak about the evolution of Utah politics regarding religion, sex and family on November 7th at 7 p.m. in room 101. This event is free and open to the public.
