2018 Utah Aerospace Pathways graduates announced

SALT LAKE CITY (May 16, 2018)— The Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) is pleased to announce the 2018 graduating class of the Utah Aerospace Pathways (UAP) program. A total of 55 students from Davis, Granite, Iron County, Ogden and Weber school districts received certificates in aerospace manufacturing. The graduation took place at the Utah State Capitol on May 15.

“The aerospace pathways program has been a tremendous success for the state of Utah,” said Ben Hart, GOED deputy director. “This industry driven program is providing results and filling workforce needs in the aerospace industry.”

Students in the program have participated in courses through their high schools and in collaboration with post-secondary partners. The students engaged in an externship with participating companies, where students receive work-based learning opportunities and interact with companies.

“Utah Aerospace Pathways has been a great opportunity for us to fill our talent needs,” said Clint Devitt, vice president and general manager, Janicki Industries. “One of the program highlights is the externship program, which allows these students to come into our companies and get hands-on experience and exposure to various career paths within aerospace manufacturing.”

UAP is one of four pathways programs under the Talent Ready Utah initiative. Participating companies include Albany International, Boeing, Hexcel, Janicki Industries, and Orbital ATK.
