2018 WEB.COM TOUR UTAH CHAMPIONSHIP TEES OFF TODAY AT OAKRIDGE COUNTRY CLUB

22 of the current Top 25 players on the money list will be competing for the $700,000 prize purse at Oakridge Country Club
Farmington, Utah (July 12, 2018) – The 2018 Utah Championship is underway with nearly all of the top players on the Web.comTour, including 22 of the current top 25 from the money list. Three former PGA TOUR winners who have combined for 10 PGA TOUR wins will hit the field including Eric Axley, Derek Ernst and 2003 Masters Champion and former BYU golfer, Mike Weir. Joining the list will also be two players inside of the Top 200 of the Official World Golf Ranking; Sungjae Im (112) and Sam Burns (162.)

The Utah Championship presented by Zions Bank and hosted by the Utah Sports Commission, teed off today at Oakridge Country Club in Farmington, Utah at 7:00am.

"Having some of the world’s top golfers compete in the Utah Championship, Web.com event and having it televised on the Golf Channel is great for our state, " said Jeff Robbins, President and CEO of the Utah Sports Commission. "We are also excited to partner with Tony Finau and his foundation to help develop Utah’s future PGA TOUR professionals"

Earlier this month during the Utah Championship media event, the Web.com Tour and the Utah Sports Commission announced that local Utahan, Patrick Fishburn will join the field of 156 golfers competing for the $700,000 prize purse as a sponsor exemption. This will mark Fishburn’s first appearance in Utah’s only PGA TOUR event. Other exemptions named were Wade Binfield, Hunter Hamrick, and Tom Whitney.

In addition to the tournament, Comcast will host a kid’s clinic that will feature golf instruction from touring pros with each participating child receiving a free golf club courtesy of the PGA Section (while supplies last). The Comcast Kid’s Clinic is Saturday July 14th at 4:00p.m. and is free for children.

The Utah Championship plays today through Sunday at Oakridge Country Club in Farmington, Utah. Tickets may be purchased on-site during tournament play at the gates starting at $10. General admission tickets proceeds will benefit Boys and Girls Club of Weber-Davis.

Spectator parking is available at the Legacy Event Center with shuttle service available to and from the course entrance.
