Ping Identity to Participate in Girls & Science Event, Encouraging Youth to Focus on STEAM Professions
Ping to Host Demonstrations and Games Designed to Replicate Security
Authentication and Access Procedures
DENVER–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Ping
Identity, the leader in Identity Defined Security, today announced
its participation at Girls & Science, an annual event designed to
inspire students to pursue careers in the fields of science, technology,
engineering, arts and math (STEAM). Hosted by CBS4 Local News, this
year’s event will be held on March 2 at the Denver Museum of Nature &
Science and is expected to draw more than 7,000 attendees.
“As a technology company, this is a cause that speaks to the heart of
our organization,” said Andre Durand, CEO of Ping Identity. “We’re
honored to play a role in raising the awareness of technology
professions. The STEAM programs currently being offered in our schools
are so important for our youth, as they allow children an opportunity to
explore their talents, innovations and ideas.”
At this year’s event, the Ping Identity theme is “You are the Password,”
which shines a light on the importance of cybersecurity and its various
applications. Representing this theme is Remy Lyle, a solutions
architect for Ping Identity. She will present a demo on how users access
applications through fingerprint and heartbeat code authentications.
This is done by having the students drop “pucks”—which represent
personal identities—into a Plinko board, and provides visibility into
how Ping architects particular avenues to ensure the right “pucks” end
up in the right application. The purpose is to educate students on
identity and access management as a subset of cybersecurity, while also
demonstrating real-world use cases in a way that is easily digestible
for a younger audience. All ages are welcome and activities will be
oriented toward children ages 8 to 13.
Ping’s participation at the 2019 Girls & Science event is part of the
company’s broader initiative to promote more women in technology and
eliminate the gender gap.
